Hermès Spring 2027: The Airy Runway Looks That Could Reshape Model Castings This Campaign Season

The tent at the Garde Républicaine in Paris was stifling well before the first model stepped out. Guests including Sofía Vergara and Emmy Rossum fanned themselves with their show notes. The irony was hard to miss. Hermès had just unveiled a Spring 2027 collection built entirely around the idea of air.

Nadège Vanhée, the house’s artistic director of women’s ready-to-wear, sent out clothes designed to move, breathe, and shift shape on the body. For models and casting directors tracking the Paris season, that matters beyond the review cycle. Hermès is a leather house, and this runway asked its cast to wear leather the way you would wear a breeze.

Inside Hermès’s Air Concept for Spring 2027

Vanhée spent the past year traveling through Los Angeles, Asia, and Europe, and she felt rising heat everywhere she went. France’s successive summer heatwaves gave the theme a sharper edge, though she has said the idea was in development well before temperatures spiked. “Air can be perceptible, but also imperceptible, and I wanted to convert that idea into a very pragmatic silhouette,” she said.

The construction backed that up. Parkas were deconstructed at the waist and held with snaps. Dresses and trousers carried zippers that converted a miniskirt into a midi or a wide leg into a slim one. Coats finished with carwash hems that catch air mid-stride. Vanhée cut calfskin paper-thin, embroidered lattice strips of leather onto mesh, and worked silk pongee into parkas. Perforated suede and openwork knits resembling fishing nets completed the story. Show notes framed the silhouettes around the shape of air and a sky in motion.

What the Hermès Runway Asks of Models

This collection rewards controlled, fluid movement rather than high-impact drama. A hem designed to lift as you walk, or a silhouette that changes shape mid-look, favors a model who keeps her gait clean and her hands quiet. Sheer dresses layered over graphic underpinnings called for poise and almost no fidgeting, a polished register that followed a fall season built on black leather and bare skin.

Accessories carried unusual weight. Belts came sculptural and corset-like, some doubling as belt bags, while thick leather cuffs stacked up wrists. Silk scarves became strappy tops or trailed from pilot-inspired jumpsuits. That styling pulls camera attention toward faces, wrists, waists, and necklines. Expect mid-shots and close-ups in the campaign imagery that follows, and expect the models booked for those jobs to be cast for subtlety rather than spectacle.

Color, Climate, and the Spring 2027 Campaign Cycle

Vanhée steered Hermès away from the dark equestrian codes of recent seasons. The palette moved through signature orange, tomato red, scarlet, sunflower yellow, chocolate brown, olive, and slate. She took her bow head to toe in bright red, a clear signal that color is the mood of the season.

Campaigns built on this collection will likely shoot in strong natural light, where saturated shades flatter some faces and overwhelm others. Models who read well in full sun, with minimal makeup and hair pulled back, sit in a strong position. Layered sheer, silk pongee parkas, aviator-edge jackets, and wide-leg tailoring are the styling codes most likely to carry into print. Aspiring models can start preparing now by practicing walks in long, split, and carwash-hem skirts, and by building comfort in bright color under strong light.
